Waking up within the forest
Most of you probably know, I ride with a Royal Enfield
Motorcycle club, called India Bull Riders, for a long time we had been planning
for a off-roading trekking ride.
5:30 AM on Dec 2nd I met a few fellow riders at M.G
Road metro signal, we started our journey to the meeting point NICE junction on
Mysore road, upon greeting other riders and a briefing by the ride captain Vinay
we begun thumping towards Wayanad. It was a chilling ride, luckily I had worn thermals,
after a quick breakfast stop at Mysore we continued to ride, we passed through
the beautiful Bandipur forest, and by afternoon we had reached Wayanad.
We were briefed about the off-roading but most riders were taken
by surprise as the road was gravelled and the climb was steep, many riders lost
balance. Team work kicked in as some of the experienced riders parked their
bikes and strategically stood to ensure we were able to support our fellow
riders. Once at the base camp we freshened up, and got ready to head back down,
this time we called a jeep, the group briefly took different path’s some wanted
to visit a waterfall nearby while others wanted to relax and have a few drinks.
We re-grouped before dinner, danced a few hours and after a meal, started the trek
to the night camp.
Night trek’s our challenging and require immense coordination,
we were asked to stay quiet to avoid attracting animals, after about 45 min we
reached the camp site, the first thing we noticed was a clear sky and shinning
stars, some of us looked dazzled and could not recollect the last time we saw a
gazillion stars staring at us. Amongst us we had a b’day girl, and there was a
cake waiting for her at the campsite. Living up to my name I was fast asleep by
10 PM, while the party continued, till early morning.
I woke up by 5 AM and again living up to my nature, woke others
up, in-time to ensure they could see the sunrise. As the day began, we saw a
mist under us and were mesmerised by the sight ahead. We began by clicking
selfie’s and trying to capture what the human eye was witnessing, I realised
then my “iPhone6S” is now outdated and the images were blurred. We continued
clicking pictures and did a few boomerang and began the journey back to base camp.
We ate our breakfast and began the journey back, considering the
traffic on Mysore road we took a deviation and entered the city via Nelmangala,
the group wished each other luck and wishes till we meet again.
PS: I have been reading articles on social funding, if anyone
could raise money to get me an iPhone X, a poor soul like me would bless you
with every image I shall click J
